Maintenance Campaign – Importance of Pre & Post-Trips

Conducting thorough pre and post-trip inspections will identify the tractor-trailer systems and parts are working, failing, and/or missing.

A regimen of a complete pre-trip at the beginning of the day, a walk-around inspection every time the vehicle is parked, and a post-trip at the end of the day is the best practice. This will help maintain your equipment and help avoid over-the-road breakdowns, ultimately keeping you safe.

An easy way to earn 200 Pro-Points!

79 years of experience combined within the MK Shop

“Our shop team is very reliable. When I have any maintenance issues, they give me good direction on how to resolve them, whether it’s something I can fix myself or where I should go to get fixed. Greg, the maintenance manager, goes above and beyond to check in and ensure I’m safe during these issues, even on his time off. The technicians, Grady and Warren, are also so helpful in the shop and always help me get things taken care of.” – Tina Barlow, Company Driver

Together the MK Shop has over 79 combined years of experience within this industry. Such a statement can’t be made by many repair shops. They provide the best service and exceed expectations every day.

“The shop has always responded quickly to my questions and helped with any maintenance needs I have. They have saved me time and money and always provide their best recommendations on where/what I need to get fixed to get me back on the road as soon as possible.” – Harold Cain, Owner Operator

Our maintenance team is truly valuable and they work hard to make sure our equipment is in tip-top shape so that everyone is safe while on the road. We’re proud to have such an amazing maintenance crew.

Best In Class

It is with great honor to be able to announce our title of “Best in Class” amongst our Vertical FleetNet benchmarking group for the fourth quarter consecutively.   We are amazed at our fleet’s efforts in operating our equipment safely and efficiently.

This success comes to us as a byproduct of your meticulous inspections.  Your thoroughness partnered up with our well-structured vendor network are two components that make this achievement a reality.  We are positioned in a grand place to make educated, efficient repair decisions that drive our company towards optimal operation.

We are grateful for the care you put into our equipment. Your efforts are praised not only by every single member of the MK staff but also by the members of the TMC who work to better understand the reasons behind unscheduled breakdowns. We are proud to claim the title of Best in Class!

These numbers show the skill behind how we fun our fleet. We are running 20,000 more miles between each breakdown compared to the average. We beat the verticle average by 89%!

Verticle FleetNet Benchmarking

We would like to announce our great success in being rewarded the title of Best in Class within the Vertical FleetNet Benchmarking group.   This benchmarking program gathers breakdown data from several different companies and compiles it into a ranking system.  We joined this program in April of 2020 and have been ranked Best of Class for the entirety of our involvement.

We were rewarded this title due to our drivers’ dedication to completing thorough inspections.  The attention our drivers give their equipment allows us to catch repairs before they become a breakdown.  Alongside our drivers’ dedication, we have a strong network of vendors in surrounding areas that aid in the upkeep of our equipment.  This saves driver downtime and also ensures we are satisfying our customers’ expectations by making on-time deliveries.  Since our drivers take the time to inspect their vehicles we are ranked number 1 in the fewest tire repairs amongst the benchmarking group!

We want to thank all of our drivers for putting a priority on keeping their equipment safe and free of repairs.  This is a huge accomplishment that helps us run like a well-oiled machine.

  • This is a visual of our rankings in comparison to the benchmarking average. We are definitely leading the pack!
  • Outstanding tire life!

Tidy Trucks

As drivers, you have so many responsibilities and tasks to keep track of while being on the road. With all these responsibilities, you may struggle to stay organized.

No Fear! We are here to help you by providing tips and tricks to help keep your truck clean, organized, and tidy!

Here are two great ideas to aid in your organization brought to you by Driver Manager, Mike Richards.

  • Keep an Organized Dash-

I found keeping my GPS off to one side and my phone off to the other worked best.   Both of these are still in my line of sight but do not block my ability to focus on the road.  I was able to keep an eye on my directions while safely maneuvering my truck.

  • Use Organizational Tools

Here are two of my favorite organizational tools to use in the truck.

Self-adhering Lights:  These are perfect to put anywhere in your truck, just turn them on with a tap. Easily stick them inside cabinets or above your bed for more lighting.

Hooks/Velcro:  Self-adhering hooks and Velcro can be put just about anywhere to create a spot for an item that was previously creating clutter.
